Serve at Christmas Traditions
3–7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10Christmas Traditions is our biggest outreach event of the year. Sign up to serve this year and help share the gospel with families in our community this Christmas. We are praying for 120 volunteers to serve this year—will you be one of them?
Available Positions
Look over the position descriptions below and select a position to serve in by clicking the button below.
Most positions run in shifts from either 3–5 p.m. or 5–7 p.m. You can select your desired shift on the registration form—or select both to serve with us all evening.
Greeters (Indoors & Outdoors): Greet our guests as they enter the building, hand out passports and point people in the right direction.
Connection Center: Share information about Christmas Traditions with our guests while also sharing more info about our ministries and programs. Also, collect guests’ fully stamped passports and enter them into our raffle for the chance to win a FREE week of Summerama!
Live Nativity (Actors): Mary, Joseph, Baby Jesus, Shepherds, Wisemen. Dressed in period costumes, talking to guests as they go through our Live Nativity stations while staying in character. The Live Nativity will be indoors in the Summerama tent. Costumes provided.
Cookies Team: Help hand out cookies and decorating kits to families. Located in the Fellowship Hall.
Table Cleanup (Fellowship Hall): Keep our fellowship hall clean as families come and go for cookie decorating and food.
Santa Room: Dress up like an elf and help us move families through the line to get a picture with Santa. Families will line up in the Chapel and have their photos taken in the Fireside Room. Costumes provided.
Beverage Team: Make and distribute hot cocoa, coffee, and water at our beverage stations throughout the evening.
Snowball Room/Carnival Games: Help keep our snowball room and carnival games safe and clean for our families to enjoy. Located in the gym.
Christmas Tree Photos: Take pictures of families around the Christmas Tree in the lobby.
Stage Show Usher: Help seat families for the children’s puppet show at 4, 5 & 6 p.m. in the Sanctuary.
Stamp Stations (Indoor & Outdoor): As families move from activity to activity, stamp their passport so they can track what they have done. Families can turn in a fully-stamped passport at the end of the night to enter our raffle and have the chance to win a FREE week of Summerama!
Clean Up (Post Event): Help turn over the facility and get it ready for Sunday services. This will begin at 7 p.m. and end as soon as everything gets cleaned up.
Parking lot attendants: Help us keep the traffic moving and everyone safe in our parking lots.
Wagon Rides: Host families as they head out on the wagon to our Live Nativity and s’more campfire. Wagon rides will depart from the Bell Tower and take families to the S’mores Campfire and Live Nativity.
Bathroom/Trash/Building Attendant: Help keep our building looking neat and tidy throughout the event! This job is crucial and makes cleanup and prep for Sunday morning SO much easier.
Live Nativity (Animal Attendant): Are you comfortable working with animals? Volunteer to care for our Live Nativity animals before, during and after the event as children come up to pet them. Simple care instructions will be provided.
Meal Prep & Set Up for Volunteers: Help serve our volunteers a hot meal the night of the event! Meal will be served in the Element Room.
S’mores Campfire: Help us create a warm and cozy environment outside as families make and enjoy s’mores together around a campfire. Located in the grass by the South Lot and Summerama tent.
Take Home Craft & Story: Prep and help families put together a take home craft that shares the gospel message. Located in the Kids Lobby.
Set Up (Pre Event): Help put the final touches on the event by setting up last minute decorations, activity station supplies, etc.
Santa’s Reindeer: Engage with families as they stop by to take a look at Santa’s crew! Touching the reindeer is not allowed, but guests can visit the petting zoo by the Live Nativity. Santa’s Reindeer will be located outside by the playgrounds.
Why Serve?
Christmas Traditions is more than just a fun entertaining event for families. It’s a chance to share the true story of Christmas in a way that is exciting and interactive. It’s also a chance to share the Love of God with our community in a practical way.
